INFANT JOY/ INFANT SORROW Compare and Contrast
Infant Joy is primarily about a child after birth. The first stanza introduces the concept of purity and innocence within a newly born child. "I have no name; I am but two days old." These two lines somewhat symbolize how a new born baby comes in to the world, but has yet discovered the things of the world that make a person experience true emotion. For example, sadness, anger, confusion, etc. The second stanza basically elaborates on the first, but begins to address the innocent feeling of joy that one can not help but experience when that is all that one knows. Infant Sorrow is more so about the emotions exerted from mother, the father, and the child during the actual birth of the infant. The first stanza of this poem, unlike Infant Joy, introduces the unfiltered, uncensored, part of life where everything 'is' exactly 'what it is'. The remainder of this poem expresses the negative aspect of life. Though, the two poems together can help one remember that one can not have sorrow without joy.

Reader Profile
I am an excellent reader, though I do have some weaknesses as well as strengths. My best strength would be reading certain pieces of work that are relatable or metaphorical in some way. Finding a deeper meaning behind simple words can be amazing because there are no limits to how one can interpret something. My most noted weakness would be laziness when reading topics that are not appealing to me; not properly analyzing or clearly identifying the moral or theme of a story or poem. Reading is extremely significant in my life because it helps to expand my knowledge and understanding of certain vocabulary. My passion for reading would be to simply have something to analyze. I truly enjoy poems and novels that are terrifying, dramatic, or even historical because each one of these genres will almost always have content that has to be deeply thought about. One of my peeves when reading prose and poetry would most definitely be something with a boring topic that is over-complicating something really simple.

Letter to Grant
Dear Grant Wiggins,
It appears that you say that the male you are speaking of is not compliant. If he is not a man yet, then it will take time, patience, and consistency to help him grow in to one. You did not specify his situation, but if your time is limited, try using a friendly approach. Maybe listening to what he has to say and then forming your approach based on what knowledge he already has. Again, be patient, and listen to him. Good luck!
- sincerely Ms.Bailey
